ive continued working with photooshop a bit.
i went through a tutorial that worked with filters to blur, scratch, and adjust colors to make a picture look old.
i also followed a turorial that also used filters to make a picture look like a water color painting

I ran across some interesting tutorials in the last few days. I used the tutorials to create a collage of polaraoids. and another tutorial to make  a picture with a dot pattern. like a mosaic type thing. they were easier than i thought they would be. I finally learned what a clipping mask does. it helped create the effect of the polaroids. and i am beginning to figure out what the filters do.
