yesterday i set up a light kind of pastel yellow color for the background with darker stripes. then i mostly used the cirle tool and star tool and line tool to create figures scattered all over the background. then i added arrowheads to the lines to make them look like arrows as well as some really random swirls. the first picture is what i completed yesterday.
today i decreased and increased the size of the arrows to add a little variety. then i colorized the circles. i wanted some contrast so i used dark red and gray colors and some really dark mustard type color to go with the background. with the circles colored, the back still looked somewhat empty, so i decided to add some texture which had been my initial thought, but i totally forgot. i used texture symbols. some that looks kind of like a texturized wall as well a some splatters. i messed around with the blending modes. the last touch was a flare from the flare tool. the huge flare was kind of an accident because the mouse moved, but it ended up looking like a galaxy i think.
Sometime accidents work out and in this case I agree with you, it did! The abstract geometric effects are some of my favorites. There is a graphic designer turned comic writer/artist named Jonathan Hickman that has a cool style using vector based geometric shapes and lines. I'll try to find some images to show you.
